When to use it
- из + genitive — out of a в-place: из школы, из Москвы, из сумки.
- с + genitive — off / from a на-place: с работы, с почты, со стола, с Урала.
- от + genitive — from a person, or from beside a point: от друга, от окна, от станции.
- Don’t mix: из работы and с школы are the classic mistakes.
Pro tip
Write the location phrase first. в X → из X. на X → с X. Person → от. Then put the noun in genitive.
